Robertson Geo Services (RGS) expert teams provide worldwide data acquisition and processing services, using proven OEM technology, for subsurface characterisation and ground investigations.
RGS engineers are highly trained and motivated and capable of conducting cost effective borehole logging operations in any environment where boreholes are drilled. Only probes calibrated and conformance certified at our borehole testing and calibration centre at Tre Morfa are deployed by RGS. Marine Geotechnics is an RGS specialty, with over 15 years of experience providing subsurface data for prolonged offshore wind farm geotechnical investigations. A comprehensive risk assessment system and a rigorous adherence to safety matters serves to inspire confidence in RGS from clients.

RGS maintain a large pool of equipment which is available for rental customers who prefer to use their own engineers. Full systems, individual probes and specialised marine systems can be rented as required. All rental equipment is calibrated and conformance certified before undergoing a full system test prior to packing and dispatch. With expertise gained from shipping to over 160 countries, equipment can be delivered quickly and safely to any worldwide location. Rental customers will be offered training through the RG Academy®, conducted by an experienced RGS engineer, and will have access to comprehensive support and data QC facilities.

Operational training is available through the RG Academy® for all rental and sales customers, conducted either at our borehole testing and calibration centre at Tre Morfa or anywhere worldwide, at the customers choosing. Training schedules are flexible and can be tailored to suit the experience of attendees. A typical schedule would include winch use, probe deployment, safety matters, logging techniques, data acquisition, data processing, maintenance and troubleshooting. Remote training is delivered by experienced RGS engineers and can include a component of “on the job” training at a client’s site, as this can be the best means of conveying best practice in a real-world situation.

Geophysical borehole logging is essentially a data business. Providing field operations are conducted safely and in a timely manner, the resulting data is all that remains. All RGS engineers are expert in data processing and will process their own data whenever possible. Processing is handled using in-house software, such as GeoCAD®, or other industry standard software. All processed data is then QC checked by the Data Solutions Team to ensure quality and conformance to requirements. For rental customers a data QC service is offered, particularly relevant for initial use of complex probes such as the PS Logger®. A full third party data processing service is also available for all customers using Robertson Geo equipment.
